How MS CRM identify new line in data

no-newline

one of requirement we had from client is add </br> for new line for “Description”, when we forward that data to another application from SOAP call.

But problem was, we cannot put that </br> in CRM field because its not looks good and many time user copy – pest data from some other document that time also we can not ask user to add ‘BR’  tag on each new line and even its not feasible.  Continue reading “How MS CRM identify new line in data”

Configuration Migration Utility

The main purpose for the Configuration Migration tool is to migrate configuration data that is usually stored within custom entities from a source master development environment into a package that can be deployed onto a target live environment. The tool can also be used to package up some sample data say for a product add-on to demo how to use it.

issue: GUID’s must in sync to use this tool else it will copy the data but not able to resolve the lookup.

Trigger plugin using Action

actions

There are many scenarios that we needs to trigger plugin from ribbon / command bar. For this kind of scenario what we do, we create dummy entity and then call some message from JavaScript of  that dummy entity to trigger our plugin (you can explore this example from here ). This is what we do for MS CRM 2011, but from MS CRM 2013 onward, Microsoft CRM introduced ‘Action’ process.

Trigger a Plug-in From JScript in MS Dynamics CRM

Many times in MS CRM development we needs to trigger a plugin from JavaScript or from ribbon/command bar; its possible by supported way  and its easy too. Here are the steps for that

  1. Create a new custom entity to act as a trigger entity
  2. Register your plug-in(s) on the create or update messages for this newly created entity
  3. Create a JavaScript web resource that performs a soap update or create call of that newly created entity
    1. Create JavaScript web resource
    2. Ribbon customization
    3. Register JavaScript
  4. If you want to keep audit of this then go with create message, so each time on call of this plugin we can create new record that will save required data as audit.
  5. That’s it.
